Quality Choice Prize 2025 – Diamond Category Award

We are pleased to announce that our company has received the Quality Choice Prize 2025 in the Diamond Category from the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR).

The European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) is a globally recognized and authoritative organization dedicated to the evaluation and advancement of quality and technology. Headquartered in Lausanne, ESQR conducts independent market research on excellence and quality-improvement initiatives across government bodies, corporations, and research institutions, and honors outstanding organizations worldwide.  ESQR presents awards across five categories. Our company was recognized for its continued commitment to the stable supply of high-quality research reagents and clinical diagnostic raw materials, which led to this prestigious award.  The award ceremony was held on May 29, 2025, in Stockholm, where our President and CEO, Uichiro Ueno, attended the ceremony and delivered an acceptance speech in English.  Below is a summary of Mr. Ueno’s speech.

Our company was started in 1946 in Kumamoto City, Japan, by my grandfather, Dr. Keihei Ueno. He was a scientist who began making and selling chelating agents used for water analysis. So, we are known as one of Japan’s first university-based startups. Today, we do not just focus on water—we also focus on life sciences, especially inside living cells. We now make reagents for cellular function analysis and materials used in clinical diagnostic reagents. We have grown to 10 offices around the world, including in the United States, Germany, China, Malaysia, and Japan. Even though our company has grown, our core values have stayed the same. First, we always try to help researchers by creating high-quality reagents. In 2024, we started the Dojindo Laboratories Foundation for Scientific Advancement. This foundation gives grants to young researchers in the area of life science. We want to support science not only with products, but also with research funding. Second, we are committed to delivering stable, high-quality materials for clinical diagnostics—even during hard times. We went through the Kumamoto earthquake and the global pandemic, but we continued to deliver our products. We could do this because of our strong partnerships and the hard work of our employees. Recently, we introduced a new company slogan: “Empowering Discoveries through Reagents.” We want to keep helping create a better future through the power of reagents. We also want to continue the Japanese spirit of Monodzukuri, which means “the joy of making things.” We believe in passing on our commitment to quality to the next generation.
