Product Description
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is one of the most common human enzyme defects. Individuals with the disease may exhibit hemolytic anemia caused by medications such as Primaquine, anti-malaria drug. Therefore, screening of malaria patients with the G6PD defect in malaria-endemic areas is very important to exclude individuals with a high risk of hemolytic anemia from the treatment with Primaquine. Since the G6PD enzyme reaction produces orange color dye derived from WST-8, one of the components of the kit, G6PD activity in a whole blood sample can be monitored visually by the color intensity. This kit is for research use only.
